    General Admission includes access to the Vanderbilt Mansion (including the Habitat and Stoll Wing animal dioramas, and natural-history and cultural-artifact galleries in the Memorial Wing), The Hall of Fishes marine museum, Planetarium exhibits, and the grounds and gardens.

    Planetarium Rules: 

    • NO ENTRY into the Planetarium once the show has begun.
    • Shows start ON TIME. PLEASE plan to arrive 15 minutes before showtime.
    • NO READMITTANCE once you leave the theater. All exits are final.
    • NO food or drink allowed inside the Planetarium theater
    • Children MUST be accompanied by an adult

  • Carriage House Players: Shakespeare in the Courtyard

    The Carriage House Players (formerly Arena Players Repertory Theater) opened its 34th annual Summer Shakespeare Festival at the Vanderbilt Museum. Performances occur outdoors on the courtyard stage, where the Spanish-Mediterranean architecture adds a touch of timeless charm and magic. 

     

    Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy before the show. The estate is open an hour before the show for Shakespeare patrons. 

     

    In inclement weather, tickets will be honored for the remaining shows.

    This is a two-day workshop.  April 22 will be at The Whaling Museum & Education Center, located at 301 Main Street, Cold Spring Harbor, NY 117724.  April 23 will be at Vanderbilt Museum, located at 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, NY 11721 and

    Environmental educator Eric Powers of CEED (Center for Environmental Education and Discovery) will lead a bird walk on the estate's hiking trail.  

    This is an advanced hiking trail with many steep climbs and descents along a variety of mixed terrain with an elevation gain of nearly 300 feet. There will be two opportunities to cut your hike short and head back to the parking lot if you feel you or your party cannot finish the entire loop. The signs will show you the way out.

    Ticks are active in the woods all year long when temperatures are above freezing. To avoid ticks, please stay on the trail.

    Hikers assume all risks.

  • 2024 Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra

    For the 18th summer, the Alex Torres and His Latin Orchestra will perform from 7 to 10 PM. Gates open at 6 PM, bring a picnic/ pack your cooler. Sit back and listen and/or dance to the music of these renowned musicians and recording artists. Individual Tickets: $65, First-come-first-serve general seating. Tables of 10: $650 (Reserved for your group only). Reservations for tables of 10 must have a table host, and paid with one credit card.  

    The event will take place in the Courtyard, Celebration Tent if rain.

    Tickets are non-refundable.

     

  • carnivorous plants & bog planters w/dropseed native landscapes

    Join Anthony Marinello, a NY Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional and owner of Dropseed Native Landscapes, for a discussion and workshop on the unique carnivorous plants that call Long Island home. Learn what makes a bog different to other wetlands, why some plants have evolved to become carnivorous, and how bogs are an increasingly imperiled ecosystem. Learn how you can create an artificial bog at home and join in on the creation of your very own patio bog planter, complete with carnivorous plants and everything needed for success. Choose between attending the lecture alone ($50) or attending the lecture with the creation of your very own bog planter ($150).

    All bog planters will receive:
    1 x 6.5 gallon rubber tub
    1 x Purple Pitcher Plant
    1 x Sundew
    1 x Cranberry
    peat/sand substrate
    Pine straw mulch
    1 x care pamphlet
     
    Additional bog species, such as native orchids, will also be available for purchase.
