Before books came into wide use, messages were carried as scrolls, and small stitched pamphlets preserved everything from poetry to recipes. In this hands-on workshop, participants will take their handmade paper and ink skills to the next level by creating a finished written work—ready to gift, share, or keep.

Highlights:

• The evolution of written documents: scrolls, tablets, stitched booklets
• Layout and presentation: margins, titles, structure
• Scroll-making with decorative touches (cords, “wax” seals, embellishments)
• Pamphlet binding using a simple side or saddle stitch
