General Admission includes self-guided access to the Vanderbilt Mansion (including the Habitat and Stoll Wing animal dioramas, and natural-history and cultural-artifact galleries in the Memorial Wing), The Marine Museum, Planetarium exhibits, and the Grounds and gardens.
Planetarium Rules:
- Planetarium shows start on time. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before showtime.
- No entry into the Planetarium theater is permitted once the show has begun.
- No readmittance once you leave the theater. All exits are final.
- No food or drinks are allowed inside the Planetarium theater.
Note: The planetarium’s immersive dome environment features large, moving visuals that may cause dizziness or a sense of motion for some visitors.
Please be advised: For the health and safety of our visitors, pets and emotional support animals are not permitted on the property of the Vanderbilt Museum. Service animals consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are permitted on the premises.

The Carriage House Players (formerly Arena Players Repertory Theater) opened its 34th annual Summer Shakespeare Festival at the Vanderbilt Museum. Performances occur outdoors on the courtyard stage, where the Spanish-Mediterranean architecture adds a touch of timeless charm and magic.
Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy before the show. The estate is open an hour before the show for Shakespeare patrons.
In inclement weather, tickets will be honored for the remaining shows.
This guided tour of the estate includes the architecture, history of the Vanderbilt family, and collections. This tour does not include the residence.
- The tour begins at the planetarium. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to meet the educator.
- Tickets must be presented upon arrival.
- If you are a member, please register/sign in to receive your member discount when purchasing tickets.
- Please wear comfortable shoes as there is considerable walking on the tour

The Swashbuckling History of Women in Piracy
Mr. Vanderbilt's Spooky Science is for kids in Kindergarten-Grade 3. The workshop includes activities in the collection rooms and a creative project. Collection rooms will be darkened for a specimen hunt with flashlights. Kids are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes without masks. Sturdy shoes are recommended as we will be walking on uneven ground.

Blend resins, herbs, and aromatic barks to create custom incense — a practice with spiritual and medicinal roots across many cultures.

Collecting for the Future & Scientific Illustration is a professional development workshop for teachers and school staff. The workshop includes tours of the collections and a scientific illustration session in the Hall of Fishes.
