Foraging with the "Wildman"

The program begins with a discussion on edible invasive and native plants, followed by a foraging tour on the estate grounds, specifically, the hiking trail. Participants should bring plastic bags for veggies & herbs, and a paper bag in case we find early-season mushrooms, which spoil in plastic. Digging implements are recommended, as roots will be in season. Everyone should wear closed shoes, for protection from poison ivy and ticks.

This is an advanced hiking trail with many steep climbs and descents along a variety of mixed terrain with an elevation gain of nearly 300 feet. There will be two opportunities to cut your hike short and head back to the parking lot if you feel you or your party cannot finish the entire loop. The signs will show you the way out.

Ticks are active in the woods year-long when temperatures are above freezing. To avoid ticks, please stay on the trail.

Hikers assume all risks.

Adults & Children 10 and Older.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
