February 7: Water Purification
Water has always shaped how people live — from the placement of ancient villages to the success of modern cities. In this hands-on outdoor workshop, you’ll explore the essential role of water in both survival and sustainability. Participants will learn how to locate, collect, and purify water using natural materials and simple, safe techniques designed for camping, hiking, or emergency preparedness. Alongside the practical skills, we’ll take a cultural and historical look at how past civilizations managed their water resources — from traditional clay vessels and filtration methods to community wells and irrigation systems — and reflect on how those timeless approaches can still guide responsible water use today. This class is taught in a supportive, low-risk environment focused on education, curiosity, and connection. Perfect for beginners, families, and lifelong learners who want to feel more confident and capable outdoors.
